How to use Tears of the Kingdom Amiibos

If using Amiibo in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the same as its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, then you can follow the steps below to scan your figurine and collect your rewards.

It's important to note that you must attempt to open the Temple of Time for the first time to use Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom.

  1. Enter your pause menu and navigate to the 'Save' and 'Load' screen.
  2. On this screen, select 'Options' and look for the 'Amiibo' one.
  3. Select this setting and 'Activate Amiibo Functionality'.
  4. Once you have enabled Amiibo, go along your abilities menu until you come across the 'Amiibo' selection.
  5. Select this and make sure that 'Amiibo' is equipped in the ability slot.
  6. Place the Amiibo scanner circle over a compatible area. If there's an exit on the screen, you can't scan an Amiibo there.
  7. Then, simply scan your figurine or card by gently pressing it onto the the right controller of your Switch when it's in handheld mode.
