Poems About Drugs (Changing Perspectives of Drug Addicts) (2024)

Poems About Drugs: You may probably be on this page thinking you are a mess! But don’t worry, that mess can be cleaned up. Addiction can turn a perfectly healthy person into a total mess no doubt. Realization is the first step to change hence these poems about drugs.

Poems About Drugs

The common denominator is that your life will be destroyed by it. Whether it’s gambling, narcotics, or some other kind of substance abuse, if you’re not careful, your life will spiral out of control easily.

There are certain people who are born with a personality that is addictive. They may try a drug one time and it can ruin their lives forever.

Others experiment with all sorts of lifestyle choices and nothing seems to stick to them. When it comes to addiction, there is nothing fair about it.

1. To Quit or Not to Quit

I should wash these pills down the drain,
But it seems easier to prolong my pain,
Because I know going through withdrawal will just about kill me.

It seems easier just to go on,
Smoking crack and popping pills until dawn,
Knowing in the end what will be, will be.

Yet somewhere deep inside,
There’s a little bit of pride,
A tiny shaft of light that still reminds me.

Of the girl I used to be,
When my brain was clear and free,
I’m just not sure that I can be that girl again.

2. A Slow Death

As I hold the spoon to the flame,
I’ve got no one but myself to blame.

As I stick the needle in my skin,
I don’t feel like I can ever win.

There’s a moment of elation,
That follows the penetration.

But it’s gone again too soon,
So I try to find my spoon.

And I’ll do it all again,
Until I reach the very end.

3. What You See, What You Don’t

Crying on the outside and dying on the inside.
That’s me; that’s all you can see.

But what you don’t see is that it’s not really me,
Or at least not the girl that I once used to be.

I’m drowning in my addiction, this is true,
But I’m desperately reaching out to you.

Won’t you throw me a lifeline
And try to help me save this life of mine?

4. Slipping Away

There’s a siren in the distance,
As the daylight is slipping away.
And she tries to put up some resistance,
As her soul is slipping away.

The siren is growing closer,
But she fears she cannot stay,
To wait for the paramedics because
Her will is slipping away.

The siren is loud and comes to a stop.
They burst through the door, not waiting to knock.
But they’re too late to help; her family’s in shock.
Her life has slipped away.

5. God Help Me

Here I am,
Right back where I began
With a crack pipe in my hand.

I know now I can’t quit,
and I feel so very sick.
I can’t change, not one little bit.

6. Your New Best Friend

You used to be my best friend.

Now meth is your best friend.

You used to hang out with me.

Now you spend all your time with meth.

We used to talk about anything and everything.

Now you have a conversation with meth I can’t understand.

You’ve gone far beyond where I can reach you,

And I think I have to let you go.

7. Giving Up

I can’t watch one more day,
As you throw your life away,
Push a needle in your vein,
and slowly go insane.

Seems there’s nothing I can do
To get through to you.
If you’re ever going to quit,
Find your own strength to do it.

I just can’t take it anymore,
So I’m walking out the door.
Don’t know if I’ll see you alive again,
But remember I tried to be your friend.

8. My Master by Selena Odom

I have a master of an evil kind.
He totally controls my body, soul, and mind.
At first he was fun and cool,
But soon I became his fool.
A victim without a chance,
He took my life in just a glance.
He’s so sneaky and full of deceit.
I wonder why we ever had to meet.
Thanks to my master, I am now someone I hate.
I used to have a life, and it was somewhat great.
Now all I do is cheat, steal, and lie,
And then lie in bed praying to die.

Still I can’t leave my master for any reason.
He’s too strong and his control is never ceasin’.
He’s the one I run to when I wake.
I can’t rid him, even for my children’s sake.
I used to be loving, caring, and enjoyed my life,
But that was before my master took me for his wife.
Everyone says I don’t look like the type.
They can’t picture me locked in my room smoking a pipe.
I once was a pretty girl from the South,
But now I am left with teeth rotting in my mouth.

My master says, “You’ll never stay clean;
You love me too much to be happy and serene.”
He loves that I don’t even bother trying
And gravels when I am miserably crying.
I’m already dead really, just a shell.
My master gave me a life of pure hell.
Yes, I have a master of the most evil kind.
He took over and everything good was left behind.

9. Meth by Brandon Levangie

Time is consuming.
I struggle removing
temptation and sorrow
for a better tomorrow.
Life is confusing.
I’m tired of losing
in hopes that I’ll find
some peace in my mind.

Distorted perception,
thoughts of deception,
memories that are haunting
of the drug I’m still wanting.
Complex situations,
illogical insinuations.
Consumed by fear
from the voices I hear,
telling me to quit fighting.

I get tired of re-lighting
the flame of my soul,
relocating a goal,
for the strength to carry out,
and remove my self-doubt,
to beat my addiction,
and inner confliction.
Let go of my shame,
break free from this pain.

10. The Voice of Addiction byCarrie Roush

Well, it’s nice to finally meet you.
I’ve been waiting for your call.
I’ve noticed you’ve been crying,
And I’ve watched you pace the halls.

Whatever has been hurting you,
I can make it disappear.
You know you have nothing to lose,
Nothing to live for, nothing to fear.

Thank you for your invention.
I’ll be sure not to leave your side.
We’ll become very fast acquainted.
My naive child, there’s no use trying to hide.

I should probably introduce myself.
I am your very own addiction.
But you cannot be angry with me.
I am you own self-conviction.

I bet you feel rather stupid,
Falling right into my lap.
I’m a master at manipulation.
You’ll never escape my trap.

How does it feel to dance with the Devil?
For he and I are one in the same.
God has completely abandoned you,
So you might as well stay in the game.

A completely healthy person can become a complete wreck due to addiction. There are several things to which one could develop an addiction. The one thing they all have in common is that it will ruin your life.
